Life Cycle Assesment - LCA

Life Cycle Assesment:
How we help you achieve Sustainability

Number 01, representing the first step: Define your priorities.

At Impulse, we make Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practical and powerful for businesses looking to improve their environmental impact and gain a sustainability edge.

LCA is more than just a powerful tool—it’s a strategic approach to measure, understand, and reduce the footprint of your products, services, and processes from cradle to grave.

We simplify the science, so you can make data-driven decisions that benefit your business, your customers, and the planet.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a scientific method for evaluating the environmental impact of a product, process or service across its entire life cycle from raw material extraction to disposal.

LCA provides you with measurable insights to:

  • Improve your sustainability performance & save costs

  • Identify environmental hotspots (know where your impact lies)

  • Comply with regulations (like CSRD, ISO 14040/44, CBAM, and ESPR)

  • Design better, greener products (some of our clients reduced the emissions of their products by 85%)

  • Communicate without greenwashing according to the EU Green Claims Directive

The key stages of LCA include:

  1. Raw Material Extraction

  2. Manufacturing and Processing

  3. Distribution and Transportation

  4. Use Phase

  5. End-of-Life Management

What is Life Cycle Assessment?

Four reasons our clients come to us for their LCAs

  1. We make LCAs understandable and useful

We distill complex LCA data into clear insights and visual summaries your team can actually work with. Whether it’s for internal strategy, client communication, or CSRD reporting—your results will be practical, not just technical.

  2. We tailor every LCA to your goals.

No two assessments are the same. We adapt the scope, depth, and methodology to fit your specific product, sector, and sustainability ambitions—whether you need a quick hotspot analysis or a full ISO-compliant study.

  3. We combine scientific depth with real-world experience.

Our team brings both academic expertise and hands-on experience in applying LCAs across industries. We know what data matters, how to collect it efficiently, and how to connect the results to meaningful action.

  4. We’re great to work with.

Clients love to work with us! We’re fun, collaborative, curious, and committed to creating real change—not just ticking boxes.

Our LCA Process

A structured 4-step path to your sustainability insights

  1. Goal and Scope Definition

We define the purpose of the LCA, the product or system boundaries, the functional unit, and lay out the key assumptions, setting a clear framework for the analysis.

  2. Life Cycle Inventory (LCI)

We collect and quantify all relevant inputs and outputs, such as your raw materials, the energy use, your locations, etc. across each stage of the life cycle.

  3. Impact Assessment (LCIA)

We now model and calculate the potential environmental impacts of the inventory data using our advanced LCA software for all the impact categories you desire (Co2, water, toxicity, etc.)

  4. Interpretation & Action Plan

We analyse and interpret the results of the model, identify the key impact drivers, and translate the findings into clear, actionable strategies for improving your environmental impact.

Transparency is key! We follow internationally recognised standards (ISO 14040/44) and use robust LCA tools to ensure scientific accuracy, consistency, and decision-grade insights.
