Life Cycle Assesment (LCA) &
Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)

Life Cycle Assesment:
How we help you achieve Sustainability

At Impulse, we make Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practical and powerful for businesses looking to improve their environmental impact and gain a sustainability edge.

LCA is a strategic approach to measure, understand, and reduce the footprint of your products, services, and processes from cradle to grave.

We simplify the science, so you can make data-driven decisions that benefit your business, your customers, and the planet.

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a scientific method for evaluating the environmental impact of a product, process or service across its entire life cycle from raw material extraction to disposal.

The key stages of LCA include:

  1. Raw Material Extraction

  2. Manufacturing and Assembly

  3. Transportation and Distribution

  4. Use Phase

  5. End-of-Life Management

What is Life Cycle Assessment?

Impulse uses all latest standards:
ISO 14040 - ISO 14044 - EN 15804

What is the difference between LCA and EPD?

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified, standardized and detailed document that quantifies the environmental impact of a product across its full life cycle—from raw materials to end-of-life.

EPDs are closely linked to Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), as the LCA provides the underlying data and analysis required to develop an EPD. Without an LCA, creating an EPD isn’t possible.

Put simply, the LCA serves as the technical backbone, containing detailed calculations, assumptions, and system boundaries. The EPD then distills this information into a concise, standardized document designed for external communication—making complex environmental data more accessible, transparent, and comparable.

Four reasons our clients come to us for their LCAs & EPDs

  1. We make LCAs/EPDs understandable and useful

We distill complex LCA data into clear insights and visual summaries your team can actually work with. Whether it’s for internal strategy, client communication, or CSRD reporting—your results will be practical, not just technical.

  2. We tailor every LCA/EPD to your goals.

No two assessments are the same. We adapt the scope, depth, and methodology to fit your specific product, sector, and sustainability ambitions—whether you need a quick hotspot analysis or a full ISO-compliant study.

  3. We combine scientific depth with real-world experience.

Our team brings both academic expertise and hands-on experience in applying LCAs across industries. We know what data matters, how to collect it efficiently, and how to connect the results to meaningful action.

  4. We’re great to work with.

Clients love to work with us! We’re fun, collaborative, curious, and committed to creating real change—not just ticking boxes.

Our LCA/EPD Process

A structured 4-step path to your sustainability insights

  1. Goal and Scope Definition

We define the purpose of the LCA, the product or system boundaries, the functional unit, and lay out the key assumptions, setting a clear framework for the analysis.

  2. Life Cycle Inventory (LCI)

We collect and quantify all relevant inputs and outputs, such as your raw materials, the energy use, your locations, etc. across each stage of the life cycle.

  3. Impact Assessment (LCIA)

We now model and calculate the potential environmental impacts of the inventory data using our advanced LCA software for all the impact categories you desire (Co2, water, toxicity, etc.)

  4. Interpretation & Action Plan

We analyse and interpret the results of the model, identify the key impact drivers, and translate the findings into clear, actionable strategies for improving your environmental impact.

Group of professionals collaboratively working with charts and data on sustainability, strategizing over a large board.
