Organisational Climate Footprint:
Scope 1, 2, & 3 Emissions

How we help measure your organisational climate footprint!

At Impulse, we help you calculate and reduce your company’s greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3.

Tracking emissions across all three scopes is quickly becoming the baseline for credible sustainability — much like having your financial accounts in order at the end of the year

Whether you’re just getting started or already tracking emissions,
we make it easier to understand where your impact lies — and how to reduce it.

What is an Organisational Climate Footprint?

A climate footprint refers to the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by a business, product, or individual. It accounts for direct emissions, such as fuel combustion, and indirect emissions, including supply chain activities and product use.

An organisational climate footprint refers specifically to the GHG emissions from a business, and organises all emissions into three different scopes:
- scope 1 covering all direct emissions
- scope 2 emissions from electricity usage,
- scope 3 all other indirect emissions from your supply chain (upstream and downstream)

Measuring and reducing your climate footprint across these three scopes is essential for businesses looking to meet regulatory requirements and achieve net-zero emissions.

The Climate Footprint Process

A structured 4-step path to your sustainability insights

1. Understand Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions

Understand where emissions are coming from in your business, and at which stage the emissions are occurring. The three emission-scopes defined by the GHG-protocol are

  • Scope 1 includes all direct emissions from owned or controlled sources, such as company vehicles or onsite manufacturing.

  • Scope 2 includes indirect emissions from purchased electricity, heating, and cooling.

  • Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions, including supply chain activities, product use, and transportation—often the largest contributor to a company’s climate footprint.

2. Data Collection and Measurement

We collect and quantify all relevant inputs and outputs, such as your gas and electricity bills, your imported materials, packaging, waste, etc. Impulse works together with you to understand which data points will be needed and where to find them, as well as handling data-gaps where they arise.

3. Implement Reduction Strategies & track your progress!
Once the carbon footprint assessment is done, emissions hotspots can be identified and we can move to action!

Group of professionals collaboratively working with charts and data on sustainability, strategizing over a large board.
